Jenny Nyström is the girl from Kalmar that went to Paris and became one of Sweden's most beloved illustrators. She was an academically skilled artist in a time when a woman's role was to take care of home and family. She is mainly known as the person who created the Swedish image of the jultomte on numerous Christms cards and magazine covers, thus linking the Swedish version of Santa Claus to the gnomes of Scandinavian folklore.

Jenny's Christmas
After the first tomte Jenny illustrated, she made a wide range of charming Christmas cards.

She turned her Christmas cards into an idyll of how Sweden's Christmas traditions shold be. She illustrated tomtar, cheerful children, beautiful Christmas trees, St Lucia and everything else that comes with Christmas.
